Favourite Room for Today

Hello there, wow it's been so busy here with work and life I just haven't had a chance to get onto my blog. Finally have a few minutes to sneak in while the kids fish fingers are cooking. ha ha.

I have some exciting projects I'm working on right now - so can't wait to get back into it tonight when everyone's in bed. My head is overflowing with ideas. There is so much beautiful inspiration on the net - I just love it!!

Tonights favourite room just makes me swoon!! The tufted ottoman, the purple wall, the Ostrich, the nail head detail on the sofa, and a little pop of Zebra!! wow wow wow. The designer is Atlanta based Amy Morris. Check out her website, she is pretty fabulous.

Beautiful Home Offices

Happy Friday everyone!! I have three clients at the moment looking for solutions for home office spaces. So thought this would be a good topic for tonights post. All the rooms I need to design are combinations of Bedroom and office, sun room/guest room/play room and office (now that's an interesting one!!) rumpus room and office. So head down, bum up I better get on with it. Have a great weekend - I'll see you next week.

Paitence

Hi everyone, I just read a blog post on paitence by Jen of Interiors Addict. Check it out if you have a moment. It's so true what she has to say. I even had to comment on her post. She talks about the perfect layered interior taking time to achieve and obviously having the paitence to be able to achieve that. This is something I come across often. Meeting clients that have made rash decisions and got it all wrong and then just stopped buying or trying to decorate because they have virtually given up or are just too afraid to commit to anything in case it didn't work with what they already have.

These are the times when I think the benefit of hiring an Interior Designer can far outweigh the initial cost you would have to pay for that service. Anyway - I won't go on as writing is not really my thing. I just love beautiful interiors and creating beautiful interiors. And I guess this post just struck a chord tonight. Sometimes I try really hard to do things quickly for people because I think it's what they want. I push myself like mad and I don't think it makes for the best design possible. Not, that it's a bad design - but could it be even better? Yes of course - it can always be better.

So while I'm pondering this - here's some lovely layered interiors that probably took a lot of time to put together. Do you think it's worth it? Would you rather wait or have it done immediately?

Favourite Room for Today

Hi everyone, I feel like I haven't been here for ages. It's been so busy here!! which is just fabulous. Lots of lovely exciting jobs to work on. So just time for a quick favourite image tonight before I start my real work.

This beautiful office is by Katie Ridder. She is another fabulous American designer - well know for her fabulous use of colour and jaw dropping designs. I'm just loving the combination of blue green cabinetry and the pop of those lemon chairs. Just divine!!

DesignEx 2012

Hi, I attended DesignEx on Wednesday last week. I found it interesting this year in that there was a lot of Eco stands featured. Lots and lots of wood, green design/green building products/energy efficiency etc. Rather than DesignEx I felt like I was attending a building expo. Never the less - Eco and Green are certainly a sign of our times and definately need to be taken seriously.

I was still keen to seek out the pretty things though - so here is my pick of what really excited me!! Fabulous tiles, beautiful lighting and some gorgeous surface finishes. Have a great weekend and see you soon.

Favourite Room for Today

Hi, just a quick image tonight of a beautiful dining room. A gorgeous rustic table with a lot of bling in the chandelier. I think they look fabulous together!! The styling is just right too.

I know I should be posting on my visit to DesignEx yesterday - I just have to go through my photos and post my favourites. Haven't got around to that yet I'm sorry. So stay tuned...........

Home Ideas Magazine

Hi again - just quickly had to share my other big big news!! Lyn's fabulous Retro inspired home is featured this week in 'Home Ideas' Magazine vol 7 no 10. It's such a great spread of gorgeous photos and a really lovely story. Here's a couple of quick iphone pics of some of the article. It's on sale tomorrow in Coles and Newsagents if you would like to buy a copy.

Sneek Peak

Hi everyone, here's a quick little look at a home I have been working on in Oatley for a few weeks now. It's a lovely formal lounge room. We are still waiting on a few more pieces of furniture and I need to do some styling - but I couldn't resist taking a photo to share. I get so excited when rooms start coming together. It is such a good feeling!!

Country Retreats

Welcome to the weekend!! Don't you just love Fridays? We all slept in this morning, so it was a crazy rush to get Kamryn out the door in time for school. The rest of us were still in our PJ's, bit of a disaster. We should be looking forward to a rush free Saturday morning tomorrow - but it's up at the crack of dawn to take Kamryn horse riding. I do love getting out of the city though and driving down the coast. It's so lovely down there - quiet and peaceful and very green.

Here are some beautiful country homes I would love to be spending the weekend in.
